Grand Raid des Pyrénées See you in August 2024 from 21 to 25

Races régulations 2026

1/ THE ORGANISER AND THE EVENT

The MAJUSCHULE Association (Association loi 1901 registered on 14/01/08 at the Préfecture de Haute-Garonne under number W313008309), hereinafter referred to as the organiser, is organising the 2025 edition of the Grand Raid des Pyrénées (GRP), on

Wednesday 19, Thursday 20, Friday 21, Saturday 22, Sunday 23 August 2026.

2/ REGISTRATION CONDITIONS

This year's races are open to anyone, male or female, born before
31 December 2006, in the “Espoir, Senior, M0, M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, M8” categories, with or without a license.

Before registering, runners are reminded of the difficulties of the routes (length, altitude differences, mountain trails in the great outdoors), the weather conditions (cold, extreme heat, rain, violent winds, storms ….), and the sections of the race that take place in the middle of the night…. These difficulties require good physical preparation and the ability to be self-sufficient to ensure success in this type of individual adventure.

Registration for the three ULTRAs (160 solo, Tour des Cirques and Tour des Lacs) is subject to conditions: for each race a minimum number of effort points are required to reinforce the conditions for success in these events. This minimum number of effort points allows the organization to verify the runner’s ability to commit to an ultra while protecting their health.

Entries for all races (except the relay race) are subject to a draw.

Details and timetable will be posted on the Grand Raid des Pyrénées website:  https://www.grandraidpyrenees.com/fr/

3/ ACCEPTANCE – TRANSFER OF RACE NUMBER

Participation in GRP events implies:

  • Express and unreserved acceptance of these rules,
  • Adherence to the Association's code of ethics, integrity, rider safety, mutual assistance between riders, respect for nature and volunteers,
  • Compliance with the instructions given to participants by the organiser

This commitment is personal.

Registration for a race is firm and final.

However, a rider may transfer his race number to another person.

All transfers of race numbers must be made via the registration platform to guarantee the security of the transaction.

Transfers can only be made for the same race: a runner may only transfer his/her race number if registered for that race.

Exchanges can only be made for the same race, and the transferor will be reimbursed for the cost of his registration and any supplements, except for insurance costs and platform management costs (approximately 3%), while the taker will see the price of his race increased by €7 for management costs.

The seller will only be reimbursed once the buyer has registered (payment and validation of effort points for ultras) and only after sending an email to contact@grandraidpyrenees.com  to indicate the transfer of the race number and thus obtain a refund.

The hirer will have the option of taking out the cancellation insurance offered as well as the options

Number transfers will be permitted from March 30 until midnight on June 30, 2026, for all races, apart from the 160 relay, for which runner changes will be possible until the day before the race starts.

No exchange of race numbers with a runner registered for another race is possible outside of the procedure described for race number transfers.

The transfer of a race number to a runner who is not registered is prohibited outside of the procedure described for race number transfers.

Numbers cannot be exchanged with runners entered in other races.

It is forbidden to transfer a race number to a non-registered runner.

Any person who transfers or exchanges a race number to a third party outside of the terms described above will be held responsible in the event of an accident.

Any person with a race number acquired in violation of the rules will be disqualified.

The organizers accept no responsibility for any infringement of the rules.

No animals may accompany runners.

The race is individual, including relays for the Ultra 160 km, at a free pace, within a limited time. Anyone without a race number is not permitted to accompany a runner on the race route.

4/ THE RACES

The 2026 edition of the Grand Raid des Pyrénées is made up of 8 races:

  • The Ultra Tour, around 160 km with a positive altitude difference of around 10,000 m.
  • The Ultra Tour relay is over 4 sections, around 160 km with a total positive altitude difference of around 10,000 m,
  • The Tour des Cirques, around 120 km with a positive altitude difference of around 7,500 m,
  • The Tour des Lacs, around 80km with a positive altitude difference of 5,000m,
  • The Tour du Moudang, around 60 km with a vertical drop of 3,600 m,
  • The Tour du Bastan, around 50km with a positive altitude difference of 3,000m,
  • The Tour de la Gela, around 40 km with a climb of around 3,400 m,
  • The Tour du Néouvielle, around 40km with a vertical drop of around 2,400m.

The exact values in kilometers and altitude differences are communicated and updated on the Grand Raid des Pyrénées website.

5/ RACE CONDITIONS

The routes:

Most of the routes follow paths that must be followed to respect the flora and fauna. Some sections take traffic lanes on which the highway code must be strictly observed.

The routes are prepared many months before the event. Occasional changes may be made because of roadworks, ground movements or weather-related damage. In such cases, a modified route will be proposed. As a result, the distances and gradients communicated may be slightly altered. No cancellation of registration or refunds will be granted in such cases.

Special case of the Ultra Tour 160 km in 4 relays:

The route is identical to that of the Ultra Tour 160 km Solo, same place, same start time.

Three relay crossing points have been organised: La Mongie, Pierrefitte and Luz Saint-Sauveur.

Teams are made up of 2 to 4 riders, men, women or mixed.

One entry is required per runner and per relay (a person running two relays must take two entries, one per relay).

If a relay is not completed and a runner drops out, the team may continue the race from the next relay if it recovers the relay number from the runner who dropped out. In this case, a penalty will be applied to the team.

In the event of a relay runner being late at the finish of a relay, the next runner must collect the late runner’s relay number, then be taken by road to the next checkpoint accessible by road and start their relay before the time barrier for that checkpoint. A penalty will be applied to the team.

The order of relay runners communicated during registration may be changed during the race. However, the order of race numbers (1 to 4) must be respected, even if the first names no longer correspond.

Each team member must have validated their Safety Prevention Pass for the team to be validated.

Self-sufficiency:

These races are based on the principle of self-sufficiency and require riders to be self-sufficient.

Refreshment stations (liquid and/or solid) are located throughout the course.

These refreshment points are indicated in the road book, which will be accessible via our website:

https://www.grandraidpyrenees.com/fr/

 Cleanliness:

Under no circumstances should runners throw anything on the course. Especially as the races take place in protected areas.

A penalty will be imposed on any rider caught deliberately littering the course.

Living bases and supply points: (see paragraph 17)

Showers:

The Pierrefitte and Luz Saint-Sauveur bases are equipped with cold showers.

A hot shower is available on arrival in Vielle Aure. These showers are available at the Rioumajou campsite and can be reached by shuttle bus from the route d'Agos (near the marquee) in Vielle Aure.

Safety:

For safety reasons, any rider wishing to rest on the course must do so without deviating from the itinerary to be visible to the queue-keeper.

Runners' attention is drawn to the danger of swimming in rivers (Nestes in particular). Water can be released at any time from upstream dams, causing a sudden rise in water levels.

Due to the presence of livestock in the mountains, it is strongly advised not to drink water from streams.

We share the mountain with farmers who have their herds guarded by Patou dogs, which can be very aggressive as soon as they sense the herd is in danger. Before the event, we contact the shepherds to ask them to keep their flocks away from the race routes.

We ask you to take note of the instructions posted on the Grand Raid des Pyrénées website and to be vigilant during the race.

6/ MARKING

Marking for the various races is put in place in the days leading up to the event.

It is checked by the ushers before the first rider passes.

This signpost allows riders to follow the planned route without the need for maps or descriptions.

This marking is the only official one, regardless of the GPX tracks previously given on the organization's website.

This marking is removed by the greenhouses after the last runners have passed.

7/ REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

Pre-registration and registration are done via the Grand Raid des Pyrénées website: https://www.grandraidpyrenees.com/fr/

The opening dates for pre-registration for each race are communicated via the organisation’s website and social media.

Registration for all the 2026 races is subject to a draw (except for the relay race), as follows:

Runners wishing to enter the draw will be able to do so once pre-registration opens, in accordance with the schedule posted on the website.

It is possible to register as a group, allowing up to 10 people to participate in the draw as a team. Similarly, couples who wish to run together are recommended to register as a group.

Those wishing to register for several races must be in one and only one group. However, if they are drawn for several races, they will not be able to validate their registration for races with incompatible schedules (e.g. two races starting on the same day or two races taking place at the same time).

Double registrations for the same race are not permitted (in a group and individually or in several groups). Only one pre-registration will be retained per runner. Duplicates will be removed at random. No claims may be made following the removal of duplicates if the drawing is unfavorable.

Group names must consist of a string of 8 characters, including at least 1 letter, 1 number and 1 special character.

The chances of being selected in a group or individually are exactly the same.

To cover the costs of organising this draw, €1 per pre-registration will be charged.

If the runner is not selected in the draw, this euro will not be refunded.

The results of the drawing will be communicated by email and on the organisation’s website.

Upon receipt of the email, selected runners will have the time limit indicated in the email to confirm their registration by making payment.

After this deadline, places that have not been confirmed by payment will be offered to candidates in the order of the draw ranking. They will have the time limit indicated in the email to confirm by payment (once the registration confirmation deadline has passed, it will no longer be possible for a runner selected in the draw to validate their registration).

This process will continue until all races are full.

As soon as the race is full, an email will be sent to all those on the waiting list to inform them.

Until the end of the pre-registration confirmation waves, registration will not be open to runners who are not pre-registered.

At the end of the first wave and at the end of each wave, groups of participants wishing to take part in different races may be separated due to races being full. They are free to continue or discontinue the registration process.

Once the registration confirmation deadline has passed, it will no longer be possible for a runner selected by lottery to confirm their registration.

Registration deadlines:

Races are closed when maximum capacity is reached, and no waiting list is maintained.

However, in the event of too many withdrawals, the organisers reserve the right to make race numbers available again.

For races where the capacity limit has not been reached, the closing date for entries is

Sunday 30 June 2026 at midnight.

Registration taken into account:

Registration is validated after payment.

It is confirmed by sending confirmation e-mail and the proof of payment.

Please check your spam folder if you do not receive any messages.

If you do not receive at least one of these two emails, please contact the following address as soon as possible:

contact@grandraidpyrenees.com

Booking options :

Subscription to options (buffet and shuttle) will be open from 15 April to 30 June 2026 via the registration platform. An email will be sent to all registered participants to remind them of this deadline.

Effort points:

Registration for the Ultra Trails (Ultra 160 solo, Tour des Cirques and Tour des Lacs) is subject to the completion between 1er January 2021 and 31 December 2025, and between 1er January 2021 and before registration for the Ultra 160 solo, of a race as a “finisher” whose characteristics translated into effort points are as follows:

  • The Ultra 160 (excluding the relay): 130 effort points,
  • Le Tour des Cirques : 95 effort points,
  • Tour des Lacs : 65 effort points.

The number of effort points is calculated according to the following principle: 1 point per kilometre covered, 1 point per 100m of positive ascent (e.g. a race of 80km and 3,000m of positive ascent = 80 + 30 i.e. 110 points).

A declaration on honour will be requested via the registration platform.

Effort points will be randomly checked during pre-registration. Runners who do not meet the criteria will be excluded from the draw and will not be able to transfer their registration to a third party.

Effort points must be obtained in a single race; the accumulation of effort points from several races is not permitted.

Special case of Ironmans: Ironmans do not bring the minimum required for ultra races.

No exemptions may be granted regarding effort points.

Viewing the status of the file:

Each rider can check the status of his application on the website at any time:

https://www.grandraidpyrenees.com/fr/

8/ THE HEALTH PREVENTION PASS (PPS) – LICENCES

Since 1 January 2026, the PPS (Pass Prévention Santé) is valid for one year. The PPS number can therefore be entered on the runner’s profile from the time of registration and no later than 16 August 2026.

An email will be sent to all registered participants to remind them of this deadline.

After this date, any incomplete files will be cancelled, with no refund possible.

Licence holders:

The licence must be valid at the time of the race start.

The licence must be of the type ‘Athlé en compétition' (Competitive Athletics), ‘Athlé Entreprises' (Corporate Athletics) or ‘Athlé running' (Running Athletics) issued by the French Athletics Federation (FFA).

The licence number can therefore be entered on the runner’s profile from the moment of registration and no later than 16 August 2026.

This option can be taken out with the company proposed by the organisation; the link to take out this option is on the registration platform.

The cancellation insurance offered at the time of registration is not compulsory. If they wish, riders may take out other insurance.

This insurance enables the participant, under certain conditions established by the chosen insurer, to be reimbursed for the registration fees paid.

The terms of reimbursement are set out in the insurer's contract.

A runnerr who has not taken out cancellation insurance will not be entitled to any reimbursement of the registration fee, with the exception of pregnant women, (upon presentation of proof) for whom a reimbursement in excess of the fee or a postponement of the registration is possible over the next two years.

The claim must be declared by the participant via his/her rider profile. Requests received by e-mail will not be processed, as the organisers are unable to take the place of the rider in opening a claim with the insurance company.

The organization has no oversight of the progress of claims filed with the insurance company, which is an independent body.

The insurer’s contact details are available in general terms and conditions of insurance, which can be accessed from the registration platform.

12/ CHANGING RACES

It is possible to change races depending on the number of places available on the requested race until

Midnight June 28, 2026.

Requests should be sent by e-mail to: contact@grandraidpyrenees.com.

Any change requested for a race with a higher entry fee will only be taken into account after payment of the additional entry fee. An email will then be sent to confirm the new registration. This commitment includes an undertaking to respect the instructions for preserving nature and, more specifically, the Pyrenees National Park area.

Unannounced checks for compulsory equipment will be carried out on the course. Penalties (up to and including disqualification) will be applied for failure to comply with safety instructions (see paragraph below).

For the Ultra 160 solo and the Tour des Cirques, base camp bags will be handed out when race numbers are collected (see paragraph 15).

Race numbers must be fully legible throughout the race on the front of the runner. Race number belts are permitted provided they allow good visibility.

It is not permitted to wear the race number on the runner's bag or back.

Bib belts are accepted provided that the front of the rider's number is clearly visible.

A chip is glued to the back of the bib number for detection when timekeeping badges are issued.

A second chip is supplied for attachment to the backpack.

For the Ultra 160R, the chip is attached to the relay number. This must be passed on to the next relay runner each time the relay is completed.

Withdrawal of start numbers by proxy :

Any collection of a race number by a third party must be the subject of a power of attorney drawn up on paper (model available on our website) with a copy of the identity document of the runner and the designated person.

When collecting their race number, runners will be given one 30-litre bag per base and the necessary labels bearing their race number to identify each bag.

After depositing their personal belongings in the bag and sticking on the identification labels, the riders will drop off their bag(s), perfectly closed, between 9.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. and between 3.00 p.m. and 10.00 p.m. on Thursday 20 at the bag drop-off point in Vielle Aure, the day before the start.

It is strictly forbidden to put sticks in a bag.

After use, the bags are deposited in an area defined by the organisers.

Bags are transported by the organisers from Vielle Aure to the base camps.

They are then returned to the Vielle Aure withdrawal base from

Saturday 22 August 6.00 p.m. to midnight and Sunday 23 August 7.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.

No bags may be handed in outside these times.

After the end of Sunday collections, the bags are dropped off at the Vielle Aure tourist office. They can be collected from Monday.

The organiser accepts no responsibility for any loss.

Runners are asked not to leave anything of value in these bags.

Material damage:

The organiser declines all responsibility for any damage (theft, loss, breakage, etc.) to participants' personal property, even if the organiser is responsible for its management during the period of cover.

16/ BRIEFINGS

The day before each race, a briefing is organised to give riders the latest information and advice on the weather, safety, general race conditions and the environment.

Only one briefing is offered per day and no recordings or reports are made.

17/ LIVING BASES, CHECKPOINTS AND REFUELLING STATIONS

Life bases and refreshment points are indicated in the roadbook for each race.

In addition to the standard refreshments, a hot meal and a rest area will be available at the life bases.

For the Ultra Tour: 2 bases in Pierrefitte and Luz Saint-Sauveur.

For the Tour des Cirques: 1 base at Luz Saint-Sauveur.

Checkpoints and feed stations are located along the course. Only runners wearing a visible race number have access to the refreshment posts.

Supporters are not allowed to enter the refreshment stations. A personalised assistance area has been set up around certain refreshment stations to accommodate them outside the refreshment station. The list of refreshment points where personalised assistance by supporters is allowed is posted on the website before the start of the races. The designated assistance area must be respected by runners and their support personnel.

Reminder: accompanying persons and animals are not permitted on the paths, at the refreshment points or at the rest areas.

18/ SAFETY AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

Runners must assist any participant in difficulty.

Emergency services are coordinated by the race HQ or locally by posts along the routes.

The first-aid posts are intended to provide assistance to any person in danger using the organisation's own resources or those provided under an agreement.

Doctors or nurses accredited by the organisers are authorised to withdraw from the race any runner deemed unfit to continue. In this case, the control chips on the race number and bag will be removed and Race HQ will be informed of the withdrawal by the station manager.

Doctors or nurses are authorised to evacuate a rider by any means deemed to be the most effective to ensure his safety.

If necessary, the mountain rescue organisation will be called in. This organisation will take charge of operations and will deploy all appropriate resources, including helicopters.

A rider who calls on the services of a doctor or nurse submits to their authority and undertakes to accept their decisions.

19/ MAXIMUM RACE TIMES AND TIME BARRIERS

The time barriers or time limits for departure from the main checkpoints are calculated and published on the organisation's website and can be accessed via https://www.grandraidpyrenees.com/fr/

These time limits are set to enable participants to reach the finish within the time limit, while making any necessary stops (rest, meal, etc.).

To be allowed to continue the race, riders must leave the checkpoint before the set time limit.

At certain checkpoints, a time barrier is also set up at the entrance to the refreshment point or base camp.

Any runner knocked out of the race will have their number invalidated (chip removed from number and bag). They will not be allowed to continue on the course.

20/ WITHDRAWALS

In the event of withdrawal, the rider must notify the person in charge at the nearest checkpoint and return the number and rucksack chips.

The person in charge of the station invalidates the number and collects the chips.

Riders who retire outside a checkpoint or feed station and whose state of health does not require emergency evacuation must make their own way to a repatriation point as soon as possible and at the latest before the time barrier of that repatriation point.

Repatriation from the planned stations is collective; no individual repatriation (taxi, etc.) will be organised by the organisation.

In the event of pursuit on the course, the rider is liable to the organisers.

21/ RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

By entering one of the Grand Raid des Pyrénées races, participants undertake to respect and preserve the environment of the natural areas they cross.

In particular, runners:

  • Must not stray from the path marked out by the organisers,
  • Must not cut across footpaths
  • Must respect the environment they pass through,
  • Do not throw rubbish on the ground,
  • Must carry their waste to the next refreshment point located in a hall,
  • Must not make any noise that might disturb wildlife.

No disposable or non-biodegradable crockery will be provided at the refreshment posts.

Ecotasses” are therefore mandatory for hot and cold liquids.

Ecotasses” are available for sale to runners who are not equipped.

24/ CANCELLATION OF THE EVENT BEFORE AND DURING THE EDITION

Before the start of the races:

In the event of force majeure (exceptional bad weather, administrative prohibition or any unforeseeable event), the registration fee will be retained by the organisers.

The cost of cancellation insurance will not be refunded.

During the race:

In the event of force majeure, the organiser may stop the race. In this case, runners arriving at a refreshment or control point must follow the instructions given by the volunteers and must respect them. No reimbursement will be made.

The test jury is made up of :

  • The organising committee,
  • The medical team present at the race,
  • The heads of the checkpoints concerned.

Complaints may be made in writing 30 minutes after the provisional rankings are posted and within 15 days after the end of the event.

26/ CHANGES TO ROUTES OR TIME LIMITS JUST BEFORE OR DURING THE RACES

For safety reasons, particularly in the event of excessively adverse weather conditions, the organiser reserves the right to delay or bring forward the start of the races by a maximum of 4 hours, to stop the races or modify the routes and time limits, or even to cancel the races without prior notice, without the runners being entitled to claim any compensation or any reimbursement of the entry fees.

27/ LIABILITY INSURANCE

In accordance with current legislation, the organiser has taken out insurance to cover the financial consequences of its civil liability towards volunteers and participants.

With regard to the civil liability of the participants themselves, the above-mentioned insurance policy will only cover accidents caused to third parties by the participants during the event.

Licence holders are covered by the insurance linked to their licence. Individuals who have validated a PPS benefit from the insurance included in the PPS.

Equipment is not insured, and the organisers cannot be held responsible in the event of breakage or loss.

28/ RANKINGS AND AWARDS

For the races, only riders crossing the finish line are classified and for each race an overall classification for men and women is drawn up.

The first three men and women in each race will be rewarded.

The first in each age category, male and female, will be rewarded.

Race results are available on the website and on live trail as soon as a race is finished and are sent to UTMB.index and ITRA.run as soon as the race is over.

29/ IMAGE RIGHTS

All riders expressly waive their right to use their image during the event, just as they waive any recourse against the organiser and its approved partners for the use made of their image.

He/she authorises the MAJUSCHULE association to take, reproduce and make available to the public the photographs taken during the Grand Raid des Pyrénées.
